The VCU NextGen African Scholarship: Empowering Future Leaders
The VCU NextGen African Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for emerging leaders in Africa to access high-quality, faith-integrated, online education. This scholarship is designed for individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential, a strong commitment to their community, and a vision for creating a positive impact in their country and beyond.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of this scholarship will receive:
Financial Support: Up to 100% tuition coverage for select VCU degree programs, including Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees.
Networking & Mentorship: Exclusive access to VCU’s extensive global alumni and mentorship network.
Professional Certification: A Life & Business Coach Certificate upon graduation to enhance your professional skills.
Eligibility and Participating Countries
We are seeking participants from Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Kenya.
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be a citizen of one of the participating countries.
Hold a high school diploma (for undergraduate applicants) or a recognized bachelor's degree (for postgraduate applicants).
Demonstrate proven leadership experience in community, faith-based, or professional settings.
Show financial need and the inability to fully self-fund their studies.
Be committed to completing the program and participating in community impact projects.
Have strong written and spoken English language skills.
Have reliable internet access for VCU’s 100% online programs.
Commit to completing the Life and Business Coach Certificate and attending the graduation ceremony in Tanzania on October 18, 2026, at their own expense.
Application Requirements
To apply for the scholarship, please submit the following documents by the September 30, 2025 deadline:
A completed online application form.
An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume.
A personal statement (500–700 words) detailing your leadership journey and future goals.
One recommendation letter from a community leader, employer, or faith leader.
Scanned copies of your academic transcripts or certificates.
Proof of citizenship, such as a passport or national ID.
