ARES Scholarships 2025-2026 for Developing Countries in Belgium
Overview
The ARES scholarship program provides an excellent opportunity for students from developing countries to pursue higher education in Belgium. Annually, ARES offers scholarships to cover advanced bachelor's, master's degree programs, or short-term continuing education courses (2-6 months) within a higher education institution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

Fields of Study: The scholarship supports a wide range of fields, including but not limited to aquaculture, health, food technology, economics, international development, GIS, information technology, agriculture, environment, human rights, and microfinance. Number of Awards: Approximately 130 scholarships are awarded for Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and 70 for continuing education courses.

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Americas: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, and Peru.
Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Palestinian territory, Philippines, and Vietnam.
Scholarship Coverage
This is a comprehensive scholarship that covers:
Tuition fees (for eligible bachelor's and specialized master's programs).
International travel expenses.
A subsistence allowance.
Registration fees.
Visa costs.
Insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the ARES scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be a permanent resident and employed in one of the 31 eligible countries. An exception is made for Palestinian nationals, who are eligible regardless of their country of residence.
Hold a diploma equivalent to a relevant Belgian degree. For master's and continuing education programs, a diploma equivalent to a 2nd cycle degree (300 ECTS credits) is required. For bachelor's programs, a 1st cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) is needed.
Demonstrate a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in an ARES partner country.

Complete and submit the scholarship application form.
All applications must be submitted by September 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM Belgian time (UTC+1).
