The Chevening Scholarship 2026-2027: A Fully-Funded Opportunity for Global Leaders

Applications for the Chevening Scholarship to study in the UK for the 2026-2027 academic year are now open, with a deadline of October 7, 2025.

Chevening is the UK Government’s prestigious global scholarship program, designed to offer future leaders from around the world the unique chance to pursue a one-year master’s degree at any UK university. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding professionals who demonstrate the potential to drive positive change.

The Chevening Scholarship is fully-funded, allowing recipients to focus entirely on their academic and professional development. The award covers:

  • University tuition fees.

  • A monthly living stipend.

  • Travel expenses to and from the UK.

  • An arrival and a homeward departure allowance.

  • The cost of one visa application.

  • A travel grant to attend Chevening events within the UK.

Scholars will spend a year in the UK, developing their professional and academic skills, expanding their global network, immersing themselves in UK culture, and building lasting relationships with the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.

  • Have a commitment to return to their home country for a minimum of two years after the scholarship period concludes.

  • Possess at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours).

  • Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for admission to a UK master’s program.

  • Apply to three different and eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer from at least one of them by the specified deadline for references and educational documents.

Ineligibility

You are not eligible to apply if you:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) status and are applying from Hong Kong).

  • Have refugee status in a country that is not Chevening-eligible. (However, a citizen of an eligible country with refugee status in another eligible country may apply).

  • Are a current or former employee (or a relative of an employee) of the UK Government, British Embassies/High Commissions, the British Council, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, or a sponsoring UK university.

  • Have previously received a UK government-funded scholarship to study in the UK.

Note: Having a master’s degree does not preclude you from applying for a second one, provided you can clearly explain how the new degree aligns with your career goals and your plan to contribute to positive change in your home country.
