The Role
Our client is a gold mining and processing company with all the required infrastructure from crushing to final processed gold. The entire plant, with its supporting auxiliaries, is instrumentation driven of which it is automated and semi-automated. The core aim of this role is to effectively manage execution of maintenance activities from an instrumentation point of view in the entire process plant circuit to enable the processing plant department to optimize plant production within cost guidance.

The Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring instrument and automation repairs and installations for the process plant and supporting sections are carried in a professional standard and effectively.
- Manage and coordinate the instrumentation crew in line with maintenance plans and as directed by the maintenance superintendent for the plant.
- Create a pathway for succession planning and ensure that Individual Development Programs are in place for knowledge transfer based on an agreed timeline.
- Work directly with the metallurgy and production teams to assist timeously with any control related issues they might have.
- Development and management of departmental budget
- Instrumentation project design and management
The Requirements
Qualifications
- Full Technician Certificate, Technical Diploma, University degree or any other recognized trade test certificate in Instrumentation Engineering.
Technical experience
- Minimum 5 years working experience as a Senior Instrumentation Supervisor in a plant environment
- High competency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley control logix and SLC500)
- High competency in Wonderware systems platform.
- Computer literate with AutoCAD/Microsoft Projects /MS office.
- Have a solid knowledge of crushing, milling, and gold processing processes.
- Have a solid knowledge of the right instrumentation to use for each measured application.
