Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Administrator to join our team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be a key member of our payroll hub, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and providing excellent customer service to our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Reporting
Accurately and promptly process payroll for various tax statuses (monthly, bi-weekly, weekly), ensuring timely salary transfers.
Manage additional payments outside of automated feeds, verifying their accuracy against payroll reports.
Ensure all processing adheres to legislative requirements, including accurate processing of AA88 input files for SARS.
Perform periodic checks and controls, reconciling pay period lock reports with statutory reports (Emp201 & 501) to ensure tax balances are correct.
Process lump sum payments for CCMA, Section 197/189, and retirement, applying for the correct directives and following company SOPs.
Generate and distribute reports for internal and external departments as required.
Compliance & Audits
Deliver on requirements for internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring all data is verified before submission.
Draft and update Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to maintain operational and legislative compliance.
Ensure all deductions and contributions (SDL, UIF, COID, PAYE, etc.) are in line with current legislation and fund rules.
Manage electronic record-keeping and maintain the integrity of payroll staff data.
Stakeholder & Customer Management
Collaborate with regional support, finance, HR, and business unit managers to ensure timely submissions in line with the payroll calendar.
Handle employee payslip inquiries within agreed-upon service level agreements (SLAs), providing timely and correct feedback.
Issue UIF Certificates promptly and accurately.
Participate in monthly meetings with key stakeholders to align on objectives.
Development & Learning
Proactively stay updated with payroll legislation, taxation, and best practices.
Actively participate in training opportunities and take ownership of your personal and professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Proven experience in payroll administration and customer service.
Strong understanding of payroll-related legislation (e.g., SARS, UIF, COID).
High level of proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with payroll systems (e.g., AX, Workday).
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
