The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) was established in accordance with Article 112 (1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977 read with the Judicial Management Act, Chapter 237. Before the enactment of the Judicial Service Act No. 2 of 2005, and now the Judicial Management Act, Chapter 237, there were two Commissions that dealt with Court personnel, namely the Judicial Service Commission which dealt with Resident Magistrates and District Magistrates and the Special Judicial Service Commission which dealt with Judges of the Primary Courts.
Currently, employment and disciplinary matters of Judicial Personnel are dealt with by the Judicial Service Commission. The members and responsibilities of the Commission are specified in the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Judicial Management Act, Chapter 237. In carrying out its role of supervising the ethics of Judicial Officers, the Commission has delegated its powers to Ethics Committees at various levels.
These committees are tasked with investigating and investigating complaints against Judges, Magistrates, and Non Judicial Officers and submitting reports to the Commission for decision. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
