We're Hiring: Purchasing Officer
On behalf of Emirates Leisure Retail Zanzibar, we're looking for a dedicated and experienced Purchasing Officer to assist with the buying and procurement process by managing the administrative and operational aspects of sourcing retail products and food & beverage items. The role is responsible for sourcing high-quality and cost-effective products, coordinating with local vendors, and supporting end-to-end procurement activities, including purchase order processing, inventory monitoring, market analysis and price benchmarking.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Relationship Management:
• Manage all day-to-day communication with local retail and F&B suppliers.
• Act as the first point of contact for potential new suppliers or product listing enquiries, conducting initial screening before aligning with the Buyer for retail, and the F&B Manager or Chef for F&B, for final decisions.
• Share monthly supplier sell-out reports, as requested.
• Assist in building strong supplier partnerships through consistent, clear coordination.
• Ensure procurement activities remain fully compliant with applicable regulations and local customs laws, maintaining up-to-date awareness of all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Product & Inventory Management:
• Maintain and update the item master library, range plan, and forecasting tools to ensure data accuracy.
• Co-ordinate new item creation by collecting supplier data and liaising with Supply Chain, IT, and Inventory control for accurate item setup.
• Liaise with Commercial Finance, Buyer & Chef for margin approval on a new listing basis.
• Support Inventory Controller in monitoring aged stock and expiry risks, aligning with key internal stakeholders to reduce write-offs.
• Analyze weekly best and worst sellers, providing actionable insights to drive performance.
• Apply understanding of passenger profiles and seasonal demand to support effective stock planning.
• Monitor stock levels and highlight potential out-of-stock risks, proposing solutions to maintain availability.
• Share supplier forecasts as required to support planning and replenishment.
• Issue purchase orders and coordinate deliveries in collaboration with the Inventory Controller.
Pricing:
• Conduct regular pricing research to benchmark against travel retail and ensure competitiveness, flagging variances to the Buyer.
• Maintain accurate supplier price lists and coordinate trade agreement updates with the pricing team.
• Work with IT and Retail Operations to ensure correct pricing in POS and timely updates to price labels, including promotions.
Key Qualification:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Procurement Management and Accounting.
Excellent Procurement and Accounting skills, customer service and communication skills
