Tanzania's Serengeti Girls advance to the quarter-finals of the Women's Under 17 World Cup 2022

The Tanzania National Women's Team under the age of 17 (Serengeti Girls) on Tuesday Evening made history after successfully reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022 after a 1-1 draw with Canada whereby this is the first time for Tanzania to participate in the championship that along with reaching the quarter finals.

Serengeti Girls get this opportunity after finishing second in Group D with 4 points while the group is led by Japan with 7 points, the rest of Group D France and Canada have said goodbye to the competition as their points they were not enough.

The match which was last game of the group stages , was played at the DY Patil Stadium, it started fast as it took Canada to write the opening goal in the 14th minute of the game with a penalty kick through Amanda Marie Allen who was fouled.

After that goal, Serengeti attacked the goal of its opponents and in the 35th minute, Veronica Gabriel Mapunda leveled the team with a strong shot, thus making the exciting game end with a 1-1 draw.
