The Village Maintenance Foreman is accountable for both electrical and mechanical facilities and equipment maintenance. The main focus areas are the kitchen facilities, domestic facilities, and appliances for village residents, plumbing works, fire systems, raw and portable water systems and sewage systems. Ensure there is an effective and consistency application of all facilities and infrastructure at the village. The role holder is accountable for proper resource utilization ensuring that works are executed at cost effective and achieving value for money.

This includes lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Perform multiple welding processes such as: arc welding (SMAW), metal insert glass (MIG) welding, tungsten inert glass (TIG) welding, flux-core welding (FCAW), plastic welding, hard facing, oxygen / acetylene welding, and brazing. Shall also perform plasma cutting, oxygen / acetylene cutting, tempering, flame straightening, air carbon-arc cutting, sheet metal cutting / bending.

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and conduct welding operations.
  • Regularly inspect and test welds and equipment. Welds are checked for durability as well as meeting specified standards and equipment must be examined to determine if repairs or new equipment is needed.
  • Be familiar and competent is using various boiler-making tools and equipment including conducting pre-use inspections and assessment.
  • Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed to carry out work safely.
  • Use blueprints – read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts and understand job instructions and specifications.
  • Examine work for defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Weld sections of iron, steel, copper, or other metals together to form them into required structures.
  • Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Remove rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Conduct non-destructive tests on welds, joints, and fabricated piece. Be familiar with various types and techniques on doing NDT including MPI and x-rays.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Fabrication Boilermaker Trade Test Grade I, II, III or FTC
  • Valid Tanzanian Driving License will be added advantage

Experience:

  • 3 or more years’ experience working as boilermaker in Fixed plant industry
  • Good written and verbal English language skills are essential.
  • Experience with mining environment would be advantageous

CRANE OPERATOR (2 POSTS)
SCOPE OF ROLE
LEVEL OF WORK: 1 ROLE TYPE: Individual Contributor.
REGION/DISCIPLINE: Tanzania BUSINESS UNIT/FUNCTION: Singida Gold Mine- Singida Region, Tanzania
Work Schedule: 6 weeks on/3 weeks off (Off Camp) Duration: 2 Years
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to Process Plant Engineering Supervisor.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The crane operator’s role is to operate mobile or stationary cranes to lift, move, align, position, or reposition loads. The job entails safe positioning of cranage equipment, lifting levers and pushing buttons to ensure the safe conveyance of materials and equipment around a construction, mining, or industrial site.

In performing these duties, you are required to operate cranes in compliance with safe crane operational procedures and keep active communication with ground crew/rigger via hand signals or radio where visibility is compromised.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Must be certified to operate crane as per legal requirements.
  • Perform operational tasks of the crane by moving levers, depress buttons, and foot pedals to operate and control the speed/direction of crane movement.
  • Conduct inspection of crane mechanism and lifting components to ensure parts are in working order.
  • Conduct inspection of lifting equipment and lifting tackle.
  • Liaise with riggers or assistants who provide direct assistance through radio communication or hand signals.
  • Inspect ropes, cables and grappling assembly to identify wear and facilitate replacement.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the moving parts of a crane such as the ropes, cables, pulley, or grappling mechanisms.
  • Load or unload shipment of heavy-duty machinery or material from trucks.
  • Review work orders and schedules to determine sequence of operations.
  • Inspect bundles or shipment to ensure conformance to company regulations.
  • Signal and direct truck drivers to properly back vehicles into loading or unloading bay.
  • Move, lift, and position equipment, machinery, or heavy materials with the aid of hook or bucket.
  • Provide report of work operations by completing relevant paperwork.
  • Direct riggers and assistants in placement of blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy materials.
  • Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis or raise or lower crane boom/load line.
  • Work within set standards of accuracy and precision.
  • Conduct risks assessments and inspection of work areas as per company guidelines and engineering standards.
  • Maintain an up-to date register of all lifting equipment and tackle.

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

  • Form (IV) certificate
  • Cranage & Rigging training Certificate from recognized institution
  • Valid Tanzanian Driving License on heavy duty machines

Experience:

  • 3 or more years’ experience working as Crane operator on above 30T Crane in either link belt, rough terrain, or truck crane.
  • Experience /Knowledge on operation other mobile machine the like of TH, Manlift, Cherry picker, Forklift, Bobcat will be added advantage
  • Good written and verbal English language skills are essential.
  • Experience with mining environment would be advantageous
