The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is pleased to announce its annual grant program for the academic year 2025-2026, designed to foster international cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation. Target Group:

The grants are open to:
 
Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) in the following specified countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Scholarship Value and Duration:

Recipients of the MAECI grants benefit from comprehensive support, including:
 
Tuition Fees: Grantees may be exempted from enrollment and tuition fees based on the policy of the individual host University. Please note that this exemption does not apply to Italian language and culture courses, for which enrollment fees remain applicable.
 Health and Medical Insurance: MAECI provides health, medical, and accident insurance coverage for the entire duration of the grant. It is important to note that this insurance does not cover pre-existing physical and pathological conditions.
 
Financial Grant:
 A grant of €9,000 will be disbursed in three separate installments to a personal current account opened in the grantee's name with an Italian banking institution.
 For Italian language and culture courses, the grant amounts to €3,000, paid as a single installment.

The duration of the scholarship varies from 3 to 9 months, contingent on the chosen course type. Grant renewals are subject to satisfactory academic progress demonstrated by the applicant.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet specific requirements to be considered for these grants:
 
Academic Qualifications:
 
Applications are exclusively accepted from foreign students not residing in Italy and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE)* who possess the appropriate academic qualifications required for enrollment in the chosen Italian University/Institute. Age Limits:
 
Specific age limitations apply, with the sole exception of renewals:
 Master’s Degree, AFAM, or Italian Language and Culture Advanced Courses: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 28 years of age by the application deadline (born after May 16, 1996).
 PhD Programmes: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 30 years of age by the application deadline (born after May 16, 1994).
 Research Projects under Academic Supervision: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 40 years of age by the application deadline (born after May 16, 1984).
Bachelor’s Degree (Laurea Triennale, 1° ciclo) or Single Cycle Degree (Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico) Programmes: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 23 years of age by the application deadline (born after May 16, 2002).
 
Language Skills and Proficiency: 
 
Language proficiency requirements vary depending on the language of instruction:
Italian-Taught Courses: Applicants must provide a certificate demonstrating Italian language proficiency at a minimum B2 level within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Candidates previously enrolled in an Italian-taught university course may submit a language certification issued by a language teacher from the relevant university department.
English-Taught Courses: Applicants must provide a certificate demonstrating English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level within the CEFR. A self-certification may be accepted for candidates from countries where English is an official language and who are applying for courses taught entirely in English. Proof of Italian proficiency is not required for courses conducted entirely in English.
Italian Language and Culture Courses: Applicants must provide a certificate demonstrating Italian language proficiency at a minimum A2 level within the CEFR.
PhD Programs and Research Projects under Academic Supervision: No proof of language proficiency is required for these programs.
