PUBLIC NOTICE ON CAP PRICES FOR PETROLEUM PRODUCTS EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, 2ND APRIL 2025
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has announced the capped prices for petroleum products applicable in Mainland Tanzania, effective from 00:01 East Africa Time (EAT) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Analysis of May 2025 premiums indicates the following average decreases: 22.41% for petrol and 4.78% for diesel at the Port of Dar es Salaam. Kerosene premiums remained unchanged at this port. There were no changes in premiums at the Port of Tanga. At the Port of Mtwara, premiums decreased by 34.81% for both petrol and diesel.
The Free On Board (FOB) reference prices utilized for these calculations are based on prevailing rates in the Arab Gulf market. For the May 2025 capped prices, FOB prices decreased by 5.22% for petrol, 5.21% for diesel, and 5.08% for kerosene.
Therefore, EWURA directs all wholesalers and retailers to adhere strictly to the published capped prices for all petroleum product sales. Non-compliance will result in legal action.
